A Sierra Sunset

From Tuttle Creek Campground near Lone Pine looking towards Wanoga Peak.
The light on the ground was surreal, this is looking west to the Sierras.

Back towards Wanoga as the colors change and the moon comes in view.

West again.

Nature is the finest artist I know.

Big Southern Butte to Hebgen Lake/Yellowstone

I had been flying King Mt. trying to best the site record, when Alan Paylor said some folks were flying Big Southern Butte I decided to give it a try. This photo is of Hebgen Lake in Montana looking back toward Henrys Lake under my wing tip. I finally pulled the camera out when I got to this point.
The site record previously had been to West Yellowstone airport which is the brown area on the other side of the finger of Hebgen Lake

I'm over the western boundary of Yellowstone Park looking east toward Mammoth Hot Springs area. The sky that way looked good but I didn't want to chance landing in the park.

I flew up Hwy 191 which you can see in this photo. Getting about 5 miles farther toward Electric Peak which is in the middle right I couldn't see any good LZs along the highway, and not finding any more lift, I came back and landed in the field below. Locals stopped by and I had 2 beers and a piece of chocolate cake before getting retrieved. A fun flight. 135 mi. New site record.

Lakeside Hang and Paragliding Event, Invermere BC

This was the 30th annual event which is a spot landing contest from Mt. Swansea which these picts were taken from. The Lakeside Pub sits on the north end of Windemere Lake, just over the sailplane. They put an inner tube in the water about 30 yards off shore for the target. It's only about 3 ft. deep. If you win you get $1000.00 dollars
We went up the day before and shot these picts of the sailplanes.

Hangliders and paragliders each have a shot at $1000. The year before the same pilot won both and walked away with $2000.

The Pub. This event is always held on the weekend after the Willi so pilots can attend both. Usually they call a task to Invermere airport on the last day of the Willi which is about 65miles from Golden.

This was a great event with a killer meal served in the pub and then a live band after, lots of the town comes out for it. I would like to go back and do it again sometime.

Mt. Seven, Golden B.C. The Willi

I attended the Willi Mueller competition this year and really enjoyed the flying here.
Looking at the main LZ and campground across the river.

The paragliders were having a comp too.
